Recalibrate
To calibrate (something) again or differently.
Recalibration is to make small changes to an instrument so that it measures accurately. It also means to change the way you do or think about something.
Galatians 5:25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Recalibration from time to time is necessary for us to keep in step with the Spirit. We are called to live by the Spirit, this means that we yield ourselves to His influences and submit to His guidance. If this is how we should live, we should ask ourselves from time to time: Am I still in step with the Spirit? And if not, what changes is necessary for me to make to keep in step with the Spirit?
This is the word I received from the Lord: We need to allow the Holy Spirit to make small changes in the way we do and think when it comes to the plans He has for us. He is about to release waves of glory over us. Yes, God wants to pour out His “new wine” on, over, and through us. Our conference theme for our 2016 conference was “GLORY”, and since then God started a process in us so that we will be able to carry His Glory. I want to be responsible with my words, but I have an expectation to see a release of glory before the end of this year. For us to be in line for glory, God wants to make small changes in the way we do and think about certain things pertaining to glory and the kingdom. Over the next few months I will touch on a few areas that I feel God wants to bring alignment, but for this writing I want to focus on an area I call our personal environment.
To receive the “new wine” He wants to give we need to move away from walking in the flesh towards walking in the Spirit:
Romans 8:5-8 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
A life in the Spirit starts by setting our minds on the things of the Spirit. To make this mind-shift, we need a faith-shift as well. Life in the Spirit is a life of faith.
Mark 10:27 Jesus looked at them and said, “With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.”
This is challenging. We live in a realm where with man certain things are impossible (the natural realm). And God wants to recalibrate our thinking to His realm, the realm where all things are possible (the realm of the supernatural). The scripture I mention in Romans 8:5-8 is speaking about a mind set on the flesh and one set on the Spirit. A mind set on the flesh is one being dictated by the natural realm, and in the natural realm you can expect that certain things is impossible with man. But then Paul speaks of a mind set on the Spirit, that mind is set on the realm where all things are possible. That realm is available to us because we received the Spirit of God and according to Galatians 5:25 Paul expects us to live by the Spirit.
Mark 9 shares a story where a father came to Jesus’s disciples to heal his son but without success. Later on Jesus came on the scene and the father asked Jesus that if He can do anything about his son’s situation if He would have compassion on him. Listen to Jesus’s awesome and very clear answer: Jesus said to him, “What do you mean ‘if’? If you are able to believe all things are possible to the believer.” Mark 9:23 (TPT)
Jesus’s mind was already set on the Spirit. Jesus only had eyes for what His Father was doing- so Jesus knew that “all things are possible for God, and therefore possible for Him. So Jesus told him, it is not about if I can do it, I know I can, the question is: CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? And then Jesus made a life changing and extremely challenging statement: Mark 9:23 “All things are possible for one who believes.” Through our faith we can get to the realm where “all things are possible”. Do you hear that? Jesus is challenging our faith to rise up to the place where we can expect that “all things are possible”. He is challenging us to the realm of the Spirit, the realm of the supernatural, the heavenly realm. Do you know that a different word for that realm is GLORY? Glory is the manifest realm (presence) of God. Where God manifests Himself all things are possible. I do not want to get too technical now but want to explain this. The supernatural that we normally see operate in our churches is because of the anointing we carry. The anointing is God’s supernatural empowerment that we carry to do the work of the ministry because we received the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Glory is different from anointing. Where anointing is empowerment, glory is the manifest presence of God. And to be honest, only a few of us had the opportunity to be in a meeting or situation where we stood in the glory. But God desires to bring His church (and the whole earth) to the place where all will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of God, and not just the theory of it (Habakkuk 2:14).
God is preparing us or recalibrating us to be able to stand in His glory, carry His glory in any and every situation. His glory changes impossibilities to possibilities!
Haggai 2:6-7 For thus says the LORD of hosts: Yet once more, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth and the sea and the dry land. And I will shake all nations, so that the treasures of all nations shall come in, and I will fill this house with glory, says the LORD of hosts.
I want to make things practical, I said that God wants to recalibrate- make small changes to the way we do and think in certain areas. God wants to bring changes to our personal environment so He can fill it. Before I tell you what your personal environment entails, let me tell you what is needed to change it from the flesh to the Spirit (or the impossible to all things are possible). You need the Word of God, the Holy Spirit, and the willingness to change (die to self).
Your personal environment is:
- Your thoughts
- Your imagination
- Your preconceived ideas
- Your attitude
- Your emotions
- Your condition
- What you see, hear and speak.
Are your thoughts in line with His thoughts (the mind of Christ)? Is your imagination filled with His wonder? Or is it filled with fear, ungodly desires, or really nonsense? Our imaginations play a very important role when it comes to our hope and expectation. Are your preconceived ideas in line with the kingdom, or are you expecting the flu this winter? What about your attitude towards church, family, work, the government, etc.? Are your emotions alive to God, allowing Him to touch it, or is your emotions keeping God out of certain situations? What can you do about the conditions you live in, especially when it comes to spending time with God? What you see, hear and speak become gates into your heart. And what you behold, you become. Maybe it is time to re-evaluate reading material, things you view on TV, and conversations you entertain. Is it bringing you closer to God? If not, it is by default taking you further away from walking in the Spirit.
